1. Who we are

This website is operated by M R Pienaar t/a Unified Tooling Solutions, a sole proprietor, in South Africa. We are the “responsible party” under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), which means we decide why and how your personal information is used.

3. What information we collect

  • Order details: name, billing and delivery address, phone number and email address.
  • Account details: username and password (stored in encrypted form) if you create an account.
  • Payment information: payments are processed by Yoco. We do not see or store your full card number.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email, phone, or the contact form, including order notes.
  • Technical information: IP address, browser type, device and pages visited, collected through cookies and similar tools.

We collect this information directly from you, and automatically when you use the website.

4. Why we use it

  • To process and deliver your orders and handle returns, refunds and warranty claims.
  • To communicate with you about your order and answer your queries.
  • To keep business, tax and accounting records as the law requires.
  • To prevent fraud and keep the website secure.
  • To understand how the website is used and improve it.
  • To send marketing messages only if you have agreed, or as the law otherwise allows. You can opt out at any time.

We use your information on these grounds: it is needed to conclude or perform our contract with you, to comply with the law, or for our legitimate business interests, or you have given consent.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers (“operators”) who help us run the business, and only as needed:

  • Yoco, to process card and other payments.
  • Courier and delivery companies, to deliver your order (name, address, phone number).
  • Website hosting, email and security providers, to keep the site running and protected.
  • Our accountant or bookkeeper, for record keeping.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it, for example SARS or a court order.

Operators must keep your information secure and use it only for the purpose we gave them. Some providers may store data outside South Africa. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information remains protected as POPIA requires.

6. Cookies

This website uses cookies, which are small files stored on your device. We use:

  • Essential cookies, which keep your cart, checkout and login working.
  • Performance and analytics cookies, which show us how visitors use the site, only with your consent where required.

You can accept or decline non-essential cookies in the cookie banner, and you can block cookies in your browser settings, although the cart and checkout may then stop working.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Order and invoice records are kept for [5] years to meet tax and accounting obligations. Account details are kept until you ask us to delete the account. Marketing details are kept until you opt out. After that, we delete or anonymize the information.

8. How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including an SSL certificate (HTTPS), password protection, limited access to customer data, security monitoring and regular backups. No online system is completely secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

9. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

  • Ask whether we hold your personal information and request a copy.
  • Ask us to correct or update inaccurate information.
  • Ask us to delete your information, where we no longer need it or are not legally required to keep it.
  • Object to the processing of your information, including for direct marketing.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing already done.

Email our Information Officer at [email] to make a request. We may need to verify your identity first, and we aim to respond within 30 days. Some order and invoice records must be kept for tax purposes, so we may not be able to delete those straight away.

10. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, please contact us first. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at complaints.IR@justice.gov.za or through its website, inforegulator.org.za.

11. Children

This website is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated below.
