Sanding Stars & Slashed Rolls, Flutter Discs

Flutter Discs (Sanding Stars) are built by layering slashed abrasive strips in different configurations.

They’re made from J-weight or X-weight abrasive cloth, giving you options for flexibility or stiffness based on your task. Common uses include profile sanding on wood or polishing welds in tight corners.

You can run them on handheld tools or automated machines like molders and profile sanders.

Flutter Discs (Sanding Stars) perform best at speeds between 10–20 m/s. This range gives the best balance between material removal, finish quality, heat control, and disc life.

Important Safety Info:

  • Do not exceed 30 m/s. Overspeeding can cause disc failure, grain loss, and overheating.
  • Do not use with water, oil, or coolant.
  • Follow safety guidelines as per ANSI B7.1.
